Moving Tips

Moving can be overwhelming, stressful, and time consuming. But, it doesn’t have to be. There are various ways to get the help you need. At Hop To It Movers, we have provided a few moving tips to help you feel more organized and prepared.

Packing up all of your belongings can take a while. There may be certain areas of the home that hold items that you aren’t going to use between now and when you move. Start packing as much as you can the moment you decide you are moving. If you space out the packing over a few weeks or even months, it can feel less overwhelming.

Enlist Help

Don’t try to do everything on your own. Life doesn’t stop just because you are moving, and this is something important to remember. You may still be working and have a long list of other responsibilities, too. This means you will want to ask for help from family, friends, and neighbors. The moving professionals at Hop To It Movers can also provide help wherever it is needed.

General Moving Tips:

We have been helping people move for years and this has helped us to see what needs to be done. Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your situation.

  • Pack items that you will need right away in a clear plastic container
  • Label boxes with what’s inside and what room they belong in
  • Use sandwich bags to hold screws and such from curtain rods and label them
  • Take a photo of wiring connections for your computer, TV, and other electronic setups
  • Stop grocery shopping about 2 weeks out so you don’t have to lose food in the move

Moving Checklist

Take advantage of the moving checklist below, too. This can help you to check off everything important as you go so that moving day doesn’t seem so chaotic. There may be quite a few things that you didn’t even think of. You don’t want to get into your new home or location and then suddenly remember that there were things that you forgot. The checklist is comprehensive, and it can guide you through the entire moving process – which include several weeks before the moving truck ever pulls up to your door.

Should you require any additional assistance, whether it is recommendations on how to pack or simply who to call in the area for a particular service, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Customer service is what we are known for, and we look forward to serving you however we can. Please call us at 780-893-4811.
